Interested in a Miniature Schnauzer?
There are a few things that we would like you to consider before you buy, or even set out to
find a breeder. Please be a responsible purchaser and make sure that you are fully informed
Our breed has undergone a surge in popularity, and according to Canadian Kennel
Club figures, Miniature Schnauzers topped the terrier group in numbers of dogs
registered. Popularity sometimes leads disreputable breeders to exploit the breed for profit, often
resulting in dogs of questionable quality, temperament and a lack of health testing.
The Miniature Schnauzer Club of Canada has developed a booklet for the prospective puppy purchaser.
It deals with many relevant topics including congenital and inherited problems in the breed,
health guarantees and responsibilities of breeders and new owners. It also contains
after-purchase tips on house training your puppy, selecting a Veterinarian, grooming your
Miniature Schnauzer, and general pet care and safety.
